Job Title: Youth Activities Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Youth Activities Worker for our inclusive social learning center and outdoor programs. The program could include a mix between our Play Makers Club and our ECO Programs. As a Youth Activities Worker, you will work with children, including neurodiverse youth who may experience
challenging behaviors, to provide them with engaging and enriching activities that promote their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging activities and games for youth
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all group attendants
  • Facilitate social and emotional learning through group activities
  • Provide assistance and support to neurodiverse youth who may experience challenging
    behaviors as required
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child’s progress and
    behavior
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other staff members to ensure the
    smooth operation of the program
  • Attend training and professional development opportunities to improve skills and
    knowledge
  • Think proactively and outside the box to adapt activities and strategies to meet the
    needs of all children
  • Outdoor skills and training is an asset

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in a related field preferred
  • Previous experience working with children in group settings
  • Experience working with neurodiverse youth who may experience challenging behaviors preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan and lead engaging activities and games for groups of up to 20
  • Understanding of social and emotional learning principles and techniques
  • First aid certification required; training provided if necessary
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

This is a part-time position with the potential for full-time hours depending on program needs.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

This is a great position for a recreational therapist, play therapist, child and youth development professional, or anyone passionate about working with children and youth.
